Granny's Hershey Pie

My Granny used to make Hershey Pie for my family all of the time.  It's one of those foods that brings back memories for me.  My Granny was a wonderful cook.  I loved going to her house and eating her delicious meals.  This pie is super easy and it only calls for 3 ingredients.   It's a perfect pie to make for a special occasion because it's simple, fast, different, and delicious!

Ingredients:
pie crust
1 pound Hershey Chocolate Bar or Hershey Almond Bar
    16 ounce cool whip

First, preheat your oven to 350 degrees.  It is your choice as to which pie crust you use.  You can prepare your own, use a refrigerated, or a frozen pie crust.    Instead of using regular pie crust, you can use a graham cracker crust.  I personally, prefer a regular pie crust.  I used a refrigerated pie crust.

Here's my pie crust!

Make sure to poke holes with a fork in the crust before you bake it.  If not, the crust will puff up and it will not look pretty.

See the poke holes!
Place in the preheated oven for 10 minutes or until light brown.

This is the crust after it is baked.   Let it cool.
I allow my crust to bake but still remain soft.  It's so good to "dig in" to the Hershey Pie with a creamy filling and soft crust!

While the crust is cooling, add the chocolate bar to a saucepan.

Add the whole pound of chocolate bar to the saucepan and heat on low.  Do not heat on medium or high heat because the chocolate will burn.  Continue to stir the chocolate as it is melting.

Stir the chocolate until it is completely melted.

Fold the cool whip into the melted chocolate.

Keep stirring!!!!!

Looks good!  It's going to be a light brown color and sooooo yummy!
What could possibly be better than chocolate and cool whip?!?!?

When the crust is cool, spread the gooey, delicious, chocolate mess on the crust.

Place the Hershey Pie in the refrigerator for at least an hour or more.  You want the filling to be completely set and cool.

Brace yourself to only eating one piece!  I promise you and your family will love Granny's Hershey Pie!

Enjoy!
